New Year Song

December arrived like a fire with the wind
Yeah this year I can hardly believe
When all of our plans just slipped through our hands
Like paper boats washed out to sea
Hope the things that went missing come back when you need
And I'm wishing you happy new year
And I hope your dreams will come true dear
That your money gets made
That they throw you parades
And patch up your boat with strong glue
Here's to a year that's brand new
Remember the highways the birthdays the friends
Remember airplanes and parties and shows
All the things that you miss
All the days that we drift
All the dreams you let go of
I want you to know that I'm
Wishing you happy new year
And I hope your dreams will come true dear
That your money gets made
That your music gets played
And the bar's open late just for you
Here's to a year that's brand new
And I'm wishing you happy new year
And I hope your dreams will come true dear
That your money gets made
That you're loved and you're safe
That you win so much more than you lose
If it's dark that the light's coming soon
Here in a year that's brand new
